What is clean eating anyway? It can mean just about anything to anyone. For me and my little family, it's not about extreme restrictive diets or depriving yourself of treats. There's just one rule. Easy, right? CUT THE JUNK. Our ultimate goal is no sugar, no dairy, and no gluten. We don't get hung-up on a little of these getting into our meals, but they aren't prominent on our plates. If you want to go balls to the wall, we base our goals on The Whole30 Program. Their motto is "Let us change your life." And that it will. There's more below if you want to learn more about how we approach our diet and why, but let's get to the recipes! BUSY FAMILY RECIPE #1 Whatever is in the Fridge Frittata

CONTINUED... --- MORE INFO ON OUR APPROACH TO 30 DAY CHALLENGE --- I'm not doing a diet as restrictive as Whole30 this go round because I'm a mom with not enough hours in the day as it is. We usually end up with a little bit of sugar from BBQ or soy sauce that we used in a recipe or a bit of gluten in a crust, but it is not a prominent component of any of our meals. Certainly there are no prepackaged foods, no sodas or juices, and no fast food. WE DO NOT GO HUNGRY. There are lots of veggies and fruits, lots of meat (even bacon!), lots of colorful foods, and lots of filling up on actual nutrients that fuel your mind and body. FAT IS NOT THE ENEMY. We need fats. All this low-fat pre-packaged junk is just that...junk. There isn't much nutritional content. Eat WHOLE foods. Eat your bacon (highest quality you can afford). Eat clarified butter. Eat egg yolks. You CAN be healthy and lose weight if you eat fats in moderation and with a well balanced diet. In fact, it's what your body needs to stop cravings and feel full. Depriving yourself of these fats impacts the way your brain and your stomach communicate. If you are interested in learning more about the science behind what you eat and how it affects your brain, definitely check out The Whole30 book. If you are good to body and pay attention to what you put in your mouth, you will feel the difference through the day. I'm a firm believer. I feel the difference time and time again. Now...getting my toddler to eat everything / anything I put in front of her...someone help me with that!
